Sometimes I look up at the night sky and feel lost, like it could absorb me into this void and make me fall and fall. I feel the same when I stare too long at the sea or a mountain when I’m right at its feet. Maybe it’s because I can’t see the end of it. The feeling also recurs in my dreams, it’s a sense of numbness and desolation that can turn into panic.
The vastness of the night sky feels punishing if I stare too long, but I still find it terribly fascinating.
With this personal illustration I wanted to give a face to that part of the night that I find beautiful and terrifying.
